Updated November 18, 2001 Hello Al, I'm back with more updates on various families on your website. First, could you please update any references to my email address to mitchell.lafrance@rogers.com Here goes.... Note that for all the relatives I list, I generally have birth/death/marriage information for many, including many levels of descendants, if you are interested for your website. For the records on Thomas Boulger / Catherine Gorman, I have started writing and receiving information from Ireland. My updates are as follows: * Boulger was spelled Bulger in the Irish records * Gorman was spelled Gormican in many of the Irish records * Thomas and Catherine were married on Jan 25, 1845 in Cloughbawn Parish, County Wexford. Catherine was also identified as "Kitty" * John Bulger, their son, was actually born on Nov 16, 1845 in Cloughbawn Parish, Wexford. * Other children, were Ellen (born May 3, 1848 in Cloughbawn), Thomas (born May 25, 1853) Cloughbawn and Mark (born Aug 3, 1856 in Manotick Station, Ontario). * Given the birth dates of the children, this means they immigrated between 1853 and 1856. * There is no record of the daughter Ellen in Canada therefore she must have died in Ireland * The son, Mark, died in 1918. (Mark Bulger shot a bear on his farm in the 1850's ... Al)

March 18, 2008: Hello, Mitchell and Al, My great grandmother was Tess Bolger Kenealy / Kineally. Her father, Thomas, was the one who moved from Ottawa to Chicago, Illinois, USA. If you are interested, I can fill in some blanks about Tess Bolger. (Just let me know ...and I will "compile" and send.) Her daughter, my grandmother, Mary Julia Kenealy / Kineally, shares a name with her grandmother, Julia Costello Bolger. Julia passed away at 46. There are some "unable to verify" stories about Julia, being a professor or student, at Ottawa Collegiate Institute prior to marriage. In an old family Bible (from Canada), my mom found a slip of paper from the school but it does not explain her status. I did read some information on your site that Julia was the daughter of John and Anne (Hogan) Costello. Do you have any more information to share on her family? I have looked over the site but I'm not sure what Costello family is in my family tree. I should also mention that the Bible dates around the 1870s. There's a good page of Bolger marriages. I might be able to scan and email them to you, too. I am very impressed/ pleased with the entire website. I wasn't sure where to start my search. Your website has been extremely helpful. ... Thomas Bolger
Thanks to Mitchell Lafrance for the following: Lori, your Thomas (Tess's father) was the brother of John Boulger, who is my great-great grandfather. By my calculations, that would make us 4th cousins. The John Boulger in the map is my great-great grandfather, who inherited the property from his father Thomas Boulger (your Thomas' father). My records show that your Thomas was born May 25, 1853 in Ireland, or more specifically Clougbawn Parish, Wexford, Ireland. Julia, his wife, was born about 1857 in Nepean, Ontario Canada. They were married January 13, 1885 at Notre Dame Cathedral in Ottawa, Canada. Thomas and John, both siblings of Tessa, were born in Canada. That's about all I have.... ... Mitchell Lafrance
Thomas Bolger and Sons
Al, As promised, this is one picture of Tess Bolger, with her husband, William Kenealy / Kineally, her sons, and my grandmother, Mary Julia, in her arms. Now, my mom has said "it doesn't do her justice. I don't like that one." However, I think it's the only picture of Tess in her young adult years. In a day or so, I am sending another one. Tess was quite a hat wearer. She has some nice pictures in her older years wearing some "big" hats. My mom is going to pull them for me. Note: The Bytown and Prescott Railway ran through the Bulger farm starting in 1854. All of the women around Manotick Station Road were able to buy fancy hats, etc. My GGrandmother, Ann (Robb) Burns, went on these hat excursions as well. ... Al Lewis) Below is an incomplete family tree structure of Tess Bolger Kenealy's family. Mary Taylor, whom I mentioned in an earlier note, did not have information to enter. Plus, my fault, I haven't collected all of the data that I could. It can be fixed. Children of THERESA BOLGER and WILLIAM KENEALY are: i. WILLIAM "BILLY"4 KENEALY, b. c. 1916, Illinois, USA. (passed away in the military) ii. THOMAS KENEALY, b. August 02, 1917, Illinois 24; d. November 09, 1992, Lemont, Dupage Co., Illinois 25. iii. GERALD KENEALY, b. October 14, 1921, Illinois 26; d. April 1945, Illinois27. (passed away in the military) iv. MARY JULIA KENEALY, b. c. 1926, Illinois 28; d. April 05, 1987, Lemont, Cook Co., Illinois; m. RAYMOND KAPTENA v. JACK KENEALY, b. January 9, 1934. m. Constance Farnas Two of Tess' sons passed away while in the military. Here is what my great uncle Jack has had about Gerald: "Uncle Jack said his mother, Tess, went on a train with brown hair and returned home with totally grey hair. It sure must have been a shock for her. He was on MP duty and his appendix burst and they could not save him." Al, I hope this is information that you can use for Theresa Bolger.

March 24, 2015: I would appreciate seeing the Bolger farm site. Maybe we could meet at the City Archives sometime as I am having trouble finding two families from the 1921 census. E mail and we can arrange. Many thanks, Peter L, _____________________________ Hi Peter: Below is a map from 1879 showing the Bolger farm. It fronts on what is today called the Dozois Road which begins at the south side of Mitch Owens Drive at St. Mark's High School. The Bytown and Prescott Railway was finished in 1854 crosses the Bolger farm on the east side and it gave quick access to the Byward Market. It also provided construction and railway jobs to the local farmers who also sold firewood for the steam engines at Manotick Station. The Bolger / Bulger farm is marked in red. It is just south of the Gough Road, shown in yellow, which runs (west to east) between the Dozois Road and the Manotick Station Road, both shown in grey. ... Al
