Joseph Gilmore SMYTH and Catherine BURNS
Fitzroy and March Townships
February 20, 2003:

Hi Al,
Please do add my name and address, that would be great as all my mom's
family is from the March Twnshp, Kinburn, Fitzroy Twnshp area.
Yes my Smyth were in Fitzroy early in the 1800's and are listed in the
Beyond Our Memory that is from Carleton County.

My 2nd great-grandfather was Joseph Gilmore Smyth married to Catharine Burns
from Ireland. My great grandfather was John Burns Smyth married to Jessie
Lillie. My 2nd great-grandfather was Oliver Riddle married to Elizabeth
Boucher and my gr grandfather was Wm Oliver Jr. married to Elizabeth
Teasdale. Her parents were Joshua and Miranda Haight Teasdale of East
Coulbourne. Miranda Haights parents were Milo and Levina Haight. I've
been very lucky searching my Canadian roots.
I wondered about the quilts because my grandmother and grandfather moved to
Detroit Michigan and my grandmother was Norma Smyth married the Wm Kenneth
Riddell. My mother has inherited a couple of quilts from my gram and I was
curious if she could be the one with the quilt. Her brother was Morley
Smyth?

New November 18, 2007: I am hoping that you can tell me were I can find out the names and dates that are on a quilt that is of the Smyth family. I am doing research on the Smyth's and have numerous names and dates of my relatives that settled in Ontario after leaving England. Does anyone have a picture of this quilt and if so how do I go about acquiring it? Lyn from Manitoba
