New May 17, 2003:

The family of John Shaw and his wife Janet, both born in Scotland about 1800, farmed
200 acres on Lot 1, Concession IV in Osgoode Township (Mitch Owens Road today).

In 1875, John was shot and killed by someone who fired from outside his window
as he read the newspaper. This murder is unsolved.
"Mr. Shaw was highly respected and the murder created great sympathy for the family."
