JONAS/ JONES/ JAMES; Jones Pettapiece and Ann Ferguson farmed in the Township of
North Gower, Carleton Co., Ont. There were twelve daughters and five sons in this
family. He was buried in Union Cemetery in North Gower. His tombstone is broken and
shows no first name and the date of death 1872 at 71 years corresponds with other
records for him, the tombstone also has "a native of Co Sligo" carved on it. This is a
very old cemetery and the broken tombstones were placed in a gravel base to
try to preserve them. The church records for Jonas states 64 years of age. Jones
purchased 50 acres of N1/2 of Lot 11, Conc. 4, N.G. on March , 1836, and the E 1/2
