Historical and Genealogical Research Resources in the Ottawa area

October 5, 2012:

If you are interested in family history and genealogy in the Ottawa area, the following two organizations are for you. They both have
libraries locted in the City of Ottawa Archives Building at 100 Tallwood Drive (at Woodroffe Avenue). They both have conferences and
presentations along with monthly meetings for the members. Family researchers can get help from members and Library volunteers to track down
elusive ancestors. Grace and I belong to both organizations.

The Ottawa Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society (OBOGS) and the British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa (BIFISGO)
both deal with local history material.

The Ottawa Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society has a Library Catalogue which is searchable online:

OBOGS Library Catalogue.

Visit the City of Ottawa Archives. They are also at 100 Tallwood Avenue.
