October 20, 2004: I was reviewing your site and I have some information for you about the page on the above descents. I am an O'Callaghan and in this profile on the McKenna's you mention that Catherine O'Callaghan was married to Virgil Francis McKenna. I have a bit more information on this. Catherine O'Callaghan was born in 1862 and died in 1919. Catherine and Virgil where married on June 5, 1889 at St. John the Evangelist Parish in Enniskerry, Osgoode Township, now part of the City of Ottawa, Canada. Virgil's father was John Joseph McKenna and his mother was Elizabeth J. Hughes. Hope this helps. Maureen O'Callaghan

January 13, 2006: Al, might I offer some additional info. to that offered by Maureen O'Callaghan on the McKenna page? The spouse, Catherine, is a daughter of Cornelius O'Callaghan and Bridget McEvoy. [You may wish to cross reference with your page for John P. McEvoy and Anastasia Power, the parents of Bridget.] Besides Catherine (who was known as Kate), other children include John Henry ("Black Jack") who married Laura O'Callaghan, Annie (who married James Plunkett) and James (who married Kate O'Rourke). All the best, ... Will Dunlop
October 13, 2014: To Jim McKenna, My grandparents had a farm on the Osgoode side of Mitch Owens Road, east of South Gloucester. My grandfather's name was John McKenna and my grandmother's name was Mary Walter (from Manotick). My grandmother was a teacher, and my grandfather was a farmer. ... Grant Carroll __________________________________ October 18, 2014: Hello Grant: Thanks for your inquiry. Unfortunately, I cannot be a big help to you. There were several McKenna families in the area (including Nepean and Osgoode). My ancestors - Bernard McKenna (b. 1813) and his wife Margaret Corrigan (b. 1819) were born in County Tyrone and emigrated to Canada in 1840. They settled in South Gloucester and are interred in the cemetery at Our Lady of the Visitation (formally St. Mary's). I did come across a Hugh McKenny (a/k/a McKenna) but unfortunately I was unable to establish any connection to our family. There was one McKenna (I believe his son) VIRGIL who lived in Osgoode. He may have had a son named John. You may want to check out the census for Virgil. Our Bernard did have a son named John (1847-1896) but he married a Catherine McPhee and they emigrated to Michigan, USA. Sorry I could not be of more help. Good luck with your search.... My best regards Jim McKenna ______________________ Hmmmm ... Near my home in Nepean Township, City of Ottawa, is a McKenna - Casey Road. This road is presumably named after the Nepean family of McKennas. Also, there are a great number of McKenna names in the registers of St. Philip's RC Church across the Nepean - Goulbourn border in the nearby village of Richmond. There also were McKennas just to the west of the village of Richmond, out near the Dwyer Hill Road. This week, I'll have a look through the church records for St. Philip's and see what they show. Also most of these farms and property owners will appear in Belden's 1879 Atlas of Carleton County. ... Al
