more from Dorothy:
This record looks like the second marriage of Robert in Oct. of 1876. His first
wife died in 1875.
Robert MANTEL, 43, widower, farmer, Ireland, Osgoode, s/o James MANTEL & Mary KENNEDY,
married Mary McMILLAN, 33, Finch twp., same, d/o Hugh McMILLAN & Christena CAMERON,
witn: William EARLEY & Mary KEOUGH / Kehoe, both of Osgoode, 5 Oct. 1876 at West Osgoode.
William EARLY / EARLEY was connected somehow to my Burns family on the Manotick
Station Road. The Earley farm was across the road from the Burns in the 1870's and
a gravemarker at St. John's in Enniskerry contains both surnames.
July 28, 2008:
Here is a baptism record for Robert Mantle. He was born in Rathcormac, County Cork. The
parish priest was Patrick Sheehan. Note the sponsor surnames, Spillane and Barry. Same
surnames for sponsors to many children of PR settlers, John Mantle and Ellen Horgan / Hourigan.
Most of John and Ellen's children were born in Rathcormac as well and Patrick Sheehan
was the priest.
