I believe there is another early Gloucester Johnston Family. Here is excerpt from the marriage of one of James and Rose (Hogan)
Johnstonís son. Their son James would have been born in Gloucester around 1832. Another record, at Basilica Notre Dame in
Ottawa for the baptism of their son, Patrick states that the family or at least Rose Hogan is from Osgoode Township.
These Johnstoneís are Roman Catholic and from Ireland.
James JOHNSTON, 27, residing North Gower, born Gloucester, son of James
JOHNSTON and Rose HOGAN, to Bridget McGEE, 22, residing Osgoode, born North
Gower, daughter of Barnibas McGEE and Bridget FLANIGANE (Bernard McGee and Bridget Flanagan/ Flanigan).
2 Nov. 1859.
Witness Denis CONNORS and Ellen EMILY, both of Osgoode.
Patrick Johns(t)on ended up migrating to Iowa.
Here is another mention of Rose JOHNSTON in 1830, also from Notre Dame. The source for this record is the Drouin records at ancestry.ca.

We have a couple of web pages for these folks on our site. See Bernard McGee and James Johnston, for example.
I am related, through my Christopher ancestors to a Bertha Ellen CHRISTOPHER HOGAN McNEELY. See her story and a
photograph of her on the web page for Patrick Christopher and Mary Fitzgerald, (my GGGrandparents).
I can probably dig up some more information. There is a James Johnston farm on the 1879 map. This Johnston family lived on the Mitch Owens Road which is the boundary between Gloucester and Osgoode Townships today.
And there is a James Johnston farm in Osgoode Township on Lot 34, Concession 10, according to Belden's 1879 County Atlas.
We may be related.
For folks living in North Gower Township (where there is no RC Church) there are lots of records for the Johnston
family at St. Philip's RC Church in Richmond.
