Thomas HUTCHINGAME and Johanna FLYNN
Ireland to Bytown, 1840's
(Johanna was from County Wicklow)

July 27, 2006:

Hi:

Sure! You can put my e-mail on the site. And yes, any Hutchingame in
Ottawa was a direct relative of mine. Thomas was the first one to come from
Ireland.

I think most of the Irish in Ottawa were connected.....it's a small world!

... Frank Hutchingame

New April 23, 2017: To Frank Hutchingame: Frank, I just found your ancestors Thomas Hutchingame and Johanna Flynn joined the large temperance movement in the Ottawa / Gatineau area in 1842. At that time, there was no Catholic Bishop in the Ottawa area so Bishop Phelan travelled to Richmond, Upper Canada, from Kingston, to admit over 400 individuals to the "Total Abstinence Society" at St. Philip's Church in Richmond.
