Heritage in Hazeldean, Ontario, Canada
now part of the City of Ottawa

New December 28, 2013:

Hi Al, Attached are two illustrations of the farmhouse in Hazeldean built by John Hodgins. One is from
Belden's 1879 atlas (map for Goulbourn Township) and the other from 2007 when renovations had just been
completed to turn it into a Spa Day Retreat at 26 Castlefrank Road in Glen Cairn.

John Hodgins sold the farm to the Nicholas Sparks family who were related to the Sparks who owned a large piece of
what is now downtown Ottawa and whose name is commemorated by Sparks Street. When Walter Sparks (buried in Maple Grove Cemetery)
of Hazeldean died about a decade ago the house went through some changes in ownership until it was turned into the spa.
