June 6, 2003:

The DOYLE Road in Osgoode Township is named for the several DOYLE families most of whom
came from County Wexford in Ireland. Denzil Doyle has written some of the DOYLE
family histories in Pioneer Families of Osgoode Township.

My GreatGreatGrandmother was Margaret Doyle. She died in childbirth in 1844 on the neighbouring Lawrence Burns farm. Notre Dame record: 20 Apr 1848 Baptism of Martha, born 24 March of the marriage of Paul Shanahan and Catherine Flood (Osgoode) Martin Doyle & Catherine Dewan Source: Ellen Paul's database of Notre Dame records, 1825-1855. The Dewan, Shanahan and Flood families were close neighbours of the Doyles in Osgoode Township. February 10, 2006: Sean Delaney is researching his O'Connor, O'Callaghan, Doyle and Dolan ancestors near the River Road. His ancestors had connections in both the North Gower / Kars area and the western part of Osgoode Township, close to St. Bridgid's Church. Here is a fascinating e-mail, just received from Michael Daley: April 9, 2020: The Doyles: Andy Doyle and his sister Mary Ann Doyle, lived in the stone house,at Herbert's Corners , I picked potatoes for a number years, 80 years ago or more for them and on the next farm south ,cousin,s was a Jack Doyle and his sister another Mary Doyle . I Knew them well. I recall lot of names, related away back. Shields , Blanchfield, Nash, Leahy, Herbert , Tighe, etc etc ' My mother, Mary Ida Leahy, daughter of Margaret Jane Herbert.
