Excerpts of notes from Bruce Elliott sent to me.
(talking of Huntley)
"Taller houses, lime-burning and stone chimneys became popular, and
Jimmie O'Meara and Luke Hogan, stone-masons, built for everybody."
History of the Ott. Vy. 1896
Richard Ballard farmer 1842 Nepean Census.
"Jane Bollard married Edward Burroughs / Burrows / Burrowes of March Twp. (From Co. Kilkenny)
in Canada, and Betty was living with them in the 1852 census."
"The youngest child "Aby" is presumably the girl living with Richard and Betty in
the 1842 census of Nepean, but I have no record of what became of her."
"Note that the Terryglass register contains the burial in 1809 of a John Ballard
Born c. 1720. Could this have been Richard's father?"
"I suspect Richard's wife may have been a member of the White family of Borrisokane,
As Richard and Betty gave three of their children the names of Benjamin, George and
(most distinctively) Elliott, which were the names that the Whites also used. The Bollard
family may originally have been Catholics."
