James Allen and Mary Quinlan came to Ramsay Township, Lanark County, Ontario, Canada in
1823 as part of the Peter Robinson group of settlers from the south of Ireland.
By 1830, the family were living in Huntley Township (East Lot 19, Concession 10) according to
Carol Bennett McQuaig in her book Peter Robinson's Settlers, 1823 1825, page 30.

Garrett Allen is researching the surname ALLEN.
At present I have approximately 3000 names of individuals from families that settled in
the Bristol Township, North Onslow Township and South Onslow Township areas of Pontiac County
(West Quebec). The family names include:
ALLEN, CURLEY, CAIN (KANE, CANE), O'MALLEY (MEALY, MELIA, O'MELIA & O'MALLY), MURDOCK, DOLAN,
DAVIS, SAMMON (SALMON, SAMON), O'FLAHERTY, McNALLY, McNAMARA, O'DONNELL, FARRELL, MORRISSEY,
JOYCE (JOICE), BELL, DOHERTY, GALLAGHER, McCAFFREY, COONEY, MAJOR, GIBBONS, KELLY, WALSH
(WELSH), BENNETT, STANTON, BOHAN (BEHAN), O'REILLY, KILLORAN, McGOFF (McGOUGH) etc....
I am most interested in the period 1800 - 1850 when many of these families immigrated to
Canada and settled in Eastern Ontario ( March Township, Fitzroy Harbour, Corkery etc..) before
moving to the Pontiac area.
